Our Directors

Ron Keller

Conductor & Music Director


Ron was born and raised in Naperville, Illinois (actual birthplace is 616 North Ellsworth Street). He is a fourth generation Keller in a city that has grown from 4200 people, in 1940, to over 145,000 in 2006!


He began playing tuba in the Ellsworth School band at age eight. He was awarded the John Philip Sousa Award at Naperville Community High School, and was student director his senior year. Upon graduation he entered Northern Illinois University, majoring in music. Ron received the outstanding senior musician award at NIU and was student director of the pep band.

Emily Binder

Assistant Conductor

Emily has been a proud resident of Naperville since 1986 and is a graduate of Waubonsie Valley High School. She received her undergraduate degree in music education from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and her masters in school administration from North Central College in Naperville. Emily joined the Naperville Municipal Band tuba section in 1987 and has served as the assistant director for many years.

Emily is in her 28th year as a music educator and is a member of the instrumental music faculty at Neuqua Valley High School where she teaches multiple concert bands, jazz ensemble, pep band, and marching band. Prior to teaching at Neuqua, she was an educator at Gregory Middle School. 


Tracy Oliver

Naperville Big Band Director

Tracy Oliver holds both a Bachelor and Master degree in Music Education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. He began his teaching career in 1982, as an instrumental music teacher in the East Aurora School District. He subsequently taught instrumental music in Carol Stream and Naperville District 203 schools.


Tracy has been a member of the Naperville Municipal Band for 30 years and served as assistant conductor for nine of those years. Tracy has also been a member of the Naperville Municipal Band Big Band since the band's inception in 2004, first as lead alto sax player and as Director since 2011.
